MARBLE – is a metamorphic rock composed of calcium carbonate and obtained by the metamorphosis of limestone.
Its name comes from the ancient Greek language and means “to shine”.
Marble has a hardness between 3-4 on the Mohs scale.
The Mohs scale measures hardness according to scratch resistance, where level 1 is that of soft talc and level 10 belongs to diamond.
In the natural stone class, marble has an average strength, but it resists high temperatures and has a low absorption to water, scratches, detergents, chemical solutions and acids.
It is recommended that marble be used for interior spaces, as exterior cladding changes its appearance under the influence of environmental factors.
The variety of colors for marble is less than that of granite, but the veins add a touch of elegance and uniqueness.
Marble can be used in residential projects both indoors in polished form, but also outdoors in the same polished or brushed form.
This natural stone can be used for tiling bathrooms, kitchens, living spaces, ventilated facades, table tops, window sills and steps.
