Travertine is a porous sedimentary limestone rock, which ranges in color from yellowish to brown.
Travertine has a hardness between 3 and 4 on the Mohs scale. The Mohs scale measures hardness based on scratch resistance, where level 1 is soft talc and level 10 belongs to diamond.
The properties of travertine are similar to those of limestone, with water absorption depending on the natural variety of the material, as well as the finish.
Travertine can be found in a multitude of finishes. If the material in its raw form has a porous surface, it can be processed into various types of finishes: glossy, matte, brushed, antiqued and roughened.
Travertine will have good resistance to high temperatures, but it is sensitive to the action of acids, which is why periodic waterproofing is recommended.
This natural stone can be found in colors and shades of beige, gray, brown, yellowish and even reddish.
Being a rock with low hardness, travertine can be easily cut to meet project requirements.
This rock is recommended for residential projects such as cladding living spaces, bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways, stairs, but can also be used for exterior surfaces such as typical facades or ventilated facades, pools and terraces.
